Path to: Encounter

Two worlds.

Two investigations.

Separated by a phase shift neither civilization understood.

Neither Humans nor Dovaians were searching for another intelligent species.

They were searching for answers.

The path to : Encounter began with observation.

Dova

The Disturbance

Shoan investigates recurring disturbances that appear without warning and leave only traces behind.

The phenomenon becomes known as a ghost.

Hun and the Psychic Test

Hun arrived at the evaluation with little interest in the outcome.

His supervisors expected the test to confirm long-held assumptions regarding the psychic channel and those capable of using it.

The evaluation itself was routine.

While verifying equipment inside the Bubble, Shoan became aware of an unexpected attempt at psychic influence directed toward her.

The monitoring systems recorded unusual activity, but it was Shoan’s own experience that exposed what was happening.

Hun had not intended to demonstrate an ability.

He had intended to influence the outcome.

Instead, the attempt raised questions neither participant expected to face.

What began as a routine evaluation would eventually lead to the Ancient Database, the predicted disturbances, and the first steps toward Encounter.

The Ancients’ Message

Long before the first predicted disturbance, Dovaian researchers recovered an artifact left behind by the Ancients.

The object appeared simple: a sealed container, unfamiliar inscriptions, and a purpose no one could determine.

Unlike other recovered artifacts, however, this one responded.

Patterns changed. Signals emerged. Questions followed.

As researchers attempted to understand the device, Hun discovered that its responses corresponded to psychic interaction rather than physical contact.

Inside the container rested a dormant interface connected to systems that had remained active across countless generations.

The Ancients had not left instructions.

They had left a message.

Follow us.

Questions

Nico prepares for his thesis defense while Nisa develops shielding systems intended to protect equipment operating under unknown conditions.

Neither realizes how important those questions will become.

Mining Operations

Phase-shift technology improves mining efficiency and ore quality.

For the industry, the technology is a success.

For Nico, it raises deeper questions.

Observation at the Asteroid

While supporting mining operations in the asteroid belt, Nico and Nisa used routine phase shift technology to test ideas developed during their postgraduate research.

Nisa’s containment and shielding systems protected a temporary observation package designed to record conditions during a controlled phase transition.

The experiment was simple.

A collection of sensors, scanners, audio‑visual equipment, and communication devices would dematerialize and return one minute later.

The goal was to verify existing theories.

Instead, the returned recordings raised new questions.

What began as an engineering experiment soon became an investigation.

And every investigation begins with observation.

Shared Cosmos

As Humans and Dovaians exchanged observations, measurements, and scientific theories, a remarkable realization emerged. Independent investigations had been describing the same reality from different perspectives. For the first time, the search for answers became a shared effort.
