Out of Phase Space: Encounter

Out of Phase: Encounter

A science‑fiction story inspired by discovery and observation.

What This Book Is

Out of Phase: Encounter is not a textbook.

It is a science‑fiction story inspired by scientific ideas and observation, used as narrative inspiration — not as formal theory or proof.

About the Story

In a future shaped by exploration and scientific progress, discovery extends beyond a single world.

Observation reveals something unexpected—an encounter that challenges understanding, perception, and the assumptions behind human exploration.

The Discovery

The mystery began beneath the waters of Dova.

Researchers observed disturbances that appeared repeatedly without any identifiable source.

The phenomenon produced measurable effects but left no trace of its origin.

To the Dovaians, these unexplained events became known as “ghosts.”

Discovery through science and observation lies at the heart of Out of Phase: Encounter.

Meet the Main Characters

Human Research Team

Nico

Physicist and project leader.

Nico leads the investigation into the unexplained phenomena observed around Dova. Practical and analytical, he focuses on understanding the evidence before drawing conclusions.

Nisa

Physicist and shielding specialist.

Nisa is responsible for energy systems and environmental protection technologies. Her expertise helps the team operate safely in unfamiliar conditions.

Dovaian Research Team

Shoan

Dovaian scientist.

Shoan studies the recurring disturbances known among the Dovaians as “ghosts”. Through careful observation and analysis, Shoan works to understand the phenomenon and its origin.

Huno

Dovaian technician and database specialist.

Huno manages observational data, technical systems, and historical records. Methodical and detail-oriented, Huno helps identify patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Life on Dova

Life on Dova combines science, culture, and discovery.

Researchers like Shoan and Huno spend their days investigating unexplained phenomena and their evenings discussing new observations, theories, and ideas.

Dovaian society is built around learning, exploration, and cooperation. Ancient infrastructure still supports daily life, providing energy, communication, and access to knowledge accumulated over countless generations.

“Follow us” is more than a saying. It is an invitation to pursue understanding.

Life on the Station

Life aboard the station revolves around research, mining operations, and the challenges of working far from Earth.

Recently transferred from the Lunar Research Colony, Nico and Nisa are applying their scientific expertise to improve mining efficiency and material containment systems. While helping solve practical engineering problems, they spend long hours analyzing data, developing new theories, and adapting to life in the asteroid belt.

What begins as routine scientific work gradually leads to deeper questions. While studying phase-shift mining technology, Nico becomes increasingly interested in a fundamental problem:

What happens after dematerialization?

If matter disappears from one location and reappears somewhere else, what occurs during the transition? What causes the phase shift? And where does matter exist while it is out of phase?

Questions like these begin as curiosity. Eventually, they become the foundation for discoveries no one anticipated.
